Our site is located in the Tuscan hills between Pisa and Volterra. The vines are growing on top of a hill nicely called “sul Chianti”.
The terroir is composed of marine limestone sediments and still today contain lots of shells. The oldest vine, over 50 years, carry Canaiolo grapes. The other vines, between 30 and 35 years old, carry Tuscany most traditional grapes Sangiovese. Are also cultivated Vermentino (white wine), Ciliegiolo and Malvasia Nera.
The cellar, a historical construction, « Cantina del Castello di Soiana » is located below the hill of Soiana, a small village belonging to Terriciola’s borough famous for its wines. The cellar is excavated in “tuffo” and built with clay bricks which offers a very stable micro-climate. Winters as summers the temperature is around 16°C in the center of the cellar.
